Some may very well think so! After perfectly justified criticism of BP and its partners for causing the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, President Obama seems to be beating-up Tony Haywood, BP’s CEO, simply for the sake of generating political capital. This from the man that most of us thought would truly bring in an era of new politics.
Maybe it’s just down to being given bad advice but Obama should know that the first sign of weakness is to personalise your attacks on one individual. Play the assassin if you must – but be sure that someone is trying to do the same to you!
The so called ‘Special Relationship’ that supposedly exists between the UK and US is said to be under threat, although nobody likes to say so. But given that every country likes to think that they have a special relationship with America, is it really worth taking a slap in the face for it?

Maybe the US administration should concentrate its efforts on helping those affected by the disaster rather than playing politics with peoples lives.
After all, it was the greed of the US that required the oil to be extracted in the first place – wasn’t it?
